Hi friends. Thanks again for joining with me and others in united our voices to God in prayer. To those who are holidays, thanks for joining us. Today’s verse is 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”. What a great passage containing wonderful promises. We’ve already discussed in the previous days what seeking God’s face and repentances means. But there’s a key word that helps to unleash God’s power – it’s humility. We are to humble ourselves by depending on God. It’s admitting that we can’t control or change events or issues that concern us, but God can. We depend on Him. When we learn this then the Lord promises in the next verse, “my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered” (2 Chronicles 7:15 NIV). In humility, let’s come before God in prayer asking that our church humbly seeks God for His wisdom and power to be evident in 2022.

Hi Church. Thanks for joining with me and others today as we lift our hearts to God in united prayer. We are to seek repentance and forgiveness. On that mighty day of Pentecost where Peter preached a powerful sermon, the people became convicted and asked what should they do in response? And Peter told them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38 NIV). In the Old Testament, two Hebrew words help us understand repentance. The first is the word nacham, which means to turn around or to change the mind. The second is the word sub. It is used over 600 times in the Old Testament and is translated by such words as “turn,” “return,” “seek,” “restore.” In the New Testament the Greek word for repentance is metanoia, which literally means “to change the mind.” And so when we put these word meanings together “Repentance” means to change your mind about something. As we seek repentance, turning our backs on sin, we receive the gift of forgiveness. What a precious gift forgiveness is. In your prayer now, seek repentance by saying sorry to our Lord and ask that He gives you the wisdom and strength to turn around.

Welcome to the third day of Reedy’s Month in Prayer. Currently we are looking and praying our way through Reedy’s value of “We Seek”. King David has written, “My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek” (Psalms 27:8 NIV). What does David mean by seek God’s face? When I was 13 years old, I was badly electrocuted resulting in third degree burns on my arm and fingers. After coming home from the emergency department of the Royal North Shore Hospital I went to bed, but I couldn’t sleep. The flashbacks kept coming. A little later Dad came in and lied on my bed facing me until I feel asleep. My father’s presence and love were my security. Seeking God’s face desires to be in our Father’s presence. Being in His presence gives us peace of who we are in Christ Jesus – that we are forgiven and restored; it gives us comfort that God is in control of our lives; and He presence gives us security that no one – not even the devil – can snatch us away. Let’s seek our Heavenly Father’s presence. Please pray.
